How To Add A New Image To Your Website

On the WebsiteExpress hosting and content management system it is extremely easy to add new images to your website. You can upload an image and then display it in your page content.

Upload a New Image to Your Website

When you are logged into your website browse to a web page and click on the Edit Content link on a page to bring up the Image box.

Place your cursor where you want the image to appear on the page.
Click the Image button

To upload a new image or select an existing image on your website click Browse Server.
(If the image is from an external website, just paste the address in the URL field)

Now select the folder where the image is located or where you want to upload a new image.
To upload a new image click the Upload icon to upload a new image
Now just drag and drop the file(s) on the red rectangle or click Add Files(s) to manually search for them on your computer.
Click Start Upload(s) to upload the files to your website.

Select the image that you want to use by clicking on it.
Click OK

Important Note:
If you are putting your image on your website then you can use a Relative URL ex. /Content/Images/mypicture.jpg
If you are putting your image in a newsletter or email or external source you must use an Absolute URL ex. http://mywebsite.com/Content/Images/mypicture.jpg

URL: You will notice now the URL address is filled in automatically with the address to the image on your website.
Alternative Text: This is optional text that you can type in to describe the image.
Width/Height: If your image is really big you can constrain the image size here. Typical image sizes for width are 100, 200, 350, or 500.
Border: This is optional but you can have a border around your image. 0 is no border, 1 equals a 1 pixel border, or 2 or 3 for a bigger border.
HSpace/VSpace: This puts a little space around your image so that text does not bump right up next to the image. Typically a 5 or a 10 goes here.
Alignment: You can choose to have the image align left or right and then have text wrap around it. Left is most commonly used.
Click OK when done.

Now you have an image in your page content.
If you are done, click Save.

Adjust the Image Size

Click on the image to bring up the square bounding boxes.
Place your cursor on the square in the corner of the image and click and drag the edge inward to make the image smaller, or outward to make the image bigger. When the image is the proper size release the mouse key.

Link the Smaller Image To the Bigger Image

Often you have a smaller image on the page and when a visitor clicks on the image the larger, full size image pops up. You can accomplish this by following the directions below.

Right-click the image and select Image Properties.

Select the image URL and right-click on it and choose copy.
Then click the Link tab.

Now right-click in the URL field and choose paste.
You can optionally choose to open the image in a new window by selecting New Window (_blank) under Target.
Click OK
